Microscope are two types.

Simple microscope

It is a single convex lens of small focal length.simple microscope is used to see very small objects in magnified form.microscope is known as magnifier or reading glass.

A microscope can operate in two conditions.

1- Normal adjustment .(parallel vision adjustment).

2- 

Distinct vision adjustment.

Object lies at focus of convex lens.final image is formed at infinity.

Action/working

Naked eye can see an object anywhere between nearest point and infinity.

At nearest (D=25cm) the image of object is seen with best clearty to naked eye.

Maximum vision angle for clear vision of naked eye is Qo =h/d

If the object is brought with in 25cm our eye is strained to see object.

Hence angle of vision can be artificially increasesd by putting a convex lens of very short focal length just infront of our eye.

Limitations

Maximum magnifying power of simple microscope is m<_9.hence for larger magnification compound microscope are used.
